Ready for the Real World Recognizes Outstanding Volunteer

Lilinoe Keahi is a graduating senior from Pearl City High School. She participated in her first Children's Miracle Network on April 24, 2010 and worked hard to raise over $1,000 with the other volunteers. She desires to pursue a career in the medical field, which is why the Children's Miracle Network is so close to her heart. This is why just one fundraiser was not enough to suffice her volunteer spirit.

Lilinoe began a mission to create another fundraiser for Children's Miracle Network through getting her high school involved. She spoke with friends, teachers, and clubs to promote her fundraiser. Her determination and commitment to making a difference made it possible for other young people to get involved in serving others also.

On May 8, 2010, a group of enthusiastic high school students worked for 3 hours asking for donations from drivers, pedestrians, and all passers. With nets in hand, they raised over $700 for Children's Miracle Network.

This is an example of how one young person can truly make a difference. Thanks to the vision of one student, the empowerment of Ready for the Real World, and her dedication to a good cause, more lives can be touched at Kapiolani Medical Center.

We are so proud of all of Lilinoe's accomplishments. There is an urgent need for more young people like herself who care about their communities and desire to "be the change they want to see in the world."

It just takes one person to make many dreams come true.
